Bringing 23 years in the mortgage industry, Joshua Buckingham helps clients throughout the Puget Sound area and across the country navigate home financing. He serves the Magnolia and Queen Anne Chase branches, where he works closely with local borrowers and real estate professionals. His experience working through the 2008 mortgage and housing crisis reinforced the importance of integrity and providing clients with a complete understanding of their financing and options.
Josh began his banking career as a teller while attending the University of Washington. After graduating, he worked in investments before discovering that helping people purchase their first home offered a deeper sense of fulfillment. His investment background continues to shape his approach, with an emphasis on understanding how a mortgage fits into a client’s broader financial goals — whether purchasing a first home, a forever home or an investment property. “Buying a home can be stressful, especially the first time. My ability to anticipate and understand what goes into the process and the steps involved help me remain calm and be the expert — no matter what variables come up in each transaction,” he shares.
Josh works with a wide range of financing situations and has particular experience with non-agency and jumbo lending. He is also well versed in conventional, FHA and VA financing, and Chase’s Relationship Pricing Program. Clients describe his approach as calm, focused and professional, particularly when complex income, property or credit issues arise. He emphasizes clear communication and transparency to his largely referral-based clientele, so that his borrowers understand their options and how financing decisions are reached.
Deeply rooted in his faith, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, watching sports, playing golf and LEGO building. He also follows developments in artificial intelligence and its potential applications at work and at home.
