Described as honest, resourceful and tenacious, Emily Bort grew up in a family of real estate and construction professionals. After earning her degree, she worked as a financial analyst at an investment bank before moving into the mortgage industry. “That experience trained me to look at the entire picture and not just the payment,” she shares. “I’m able to explain the trade-offs between options in simple terms rather than just handing over a rate.”
Branch manager at Movement Mortgage, Bort offers conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, non-qualified mortgage, jumbo, bridge, portfolio, home equity line of credit and refinancing loans, as well as down payment assistance programs. With 21 years in the industry, she serves Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Idaho, Montana and Texas. Earning the Best of the Plateau Lenders honor for 13 consecutive years in her hometown of Enumclaw, she is accomplishing her personal best in purchase business this year.
Always innovating and staying up to date on updates and technologies that will improve the mortgage industry for clients and business partners, Bort recently built AI tools to help Realtors better communicate numbers to their clients. She uses it to simplify estimates for clients, including house-swap and break-even calculators, to show examples of current rates. She has built a strong community through social media posts, where she shares short videos breaking down market news and rate mechanics. “For me, technology makes the entire process more personal, not less,” she explains. “The tools handle the updates so I can spend more time on the conversations.”
A proud mother of three grown boys, Bort enjoys traveling, running and fitness. She just ran the Chicago Marathon after taking a five-year break and recovering from an injury. She’s looking forward to learning to golf with her husband Nick.
