James C. Young III, VP of Mortgage Lending

Guaranteed Rate Affinity

After completing seven loan transactions as a homeowner with his own loan originator, James C. Young III, vice president of mortgage lending with Guaranteed Rate Affinity became interested in exploring his options in the business.

Young previously worked as vice president of operations for various consumer goods companies but a career in lending captured his interest. He always held at least two properties, a primary and investment, and it seemed like the right time to get into the industry.

“I had just completed my higher education at University of Washington: a bachelor’s in business administration, minor in economics (2017) and Master of Science in business analytics (2018),” he says. “I wanted to apply what I had learned to an industry that I have loved for years.”

A 2020 and 2021 Scotsman Guide Top 1% Originator and recipient of a 2021 President’s Cabinet award from Paramount Residential Mortgage Group, Inc., he is known for providing clients with excellent service and making the lending process seamless from beginning to end.

Problem-solving, creating solutions based on situations that arise, is vital in the industry and something Young does well. He has handled over 300 closings in his career, gaining extensive knowledge about the variety of options available to help benefit clients.

“I help take the sting out of the least fun part of home buying,” he says, noting that he actively pursues getting borrowers pre-underwritten to strengthen their offers and help them compete against buyers with higher down payment and cash options. “I push to get approvals in stat so that my clients can focus on getting themselves packed and ready to move into their new home.”

A big fan of English bulldogs, he has three of them. In his free time, he loves to host celebrations for friends, family and neighbors.
