Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle breaks ground on Altaire at Queen Anne affordable apartments

by Emily Marek

The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle and SRM Development broke ground on Altaire at Queen Anne, an affordable rental community in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood.

Located at 118 Mercer St. in the lower Queen Anne area, the site previously sat vacant for five years. The development will bring studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for households earning between $60,000 and $100,000 annually.

“Breaking ground on Altaire at Queen Anne represents more than the start of construction. It represents progress toward housing stability and equity in our city,” said Michelle Merriweather, president and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle.

Merriweather added that the project helps ensure the Queen Anne community stays “diverse and inclusive.”

The project is a collaboration with the Seattle Office of Housing, Amazon housing fund, Washington State Housing Finance Commission and PNC bank.

“Altaire at Queen Anne represents the kind of partnership that makes affordable housing possible — bringing together committed developers, local government and private support to create homes where working families can build their futures,” said Senthil Sankaran, managing principal of Amazon’s housing fund. “We’re honored to support the Urban League and SRM in delivering housing that serves the people who make Seattle thrive.”

Move-ins are planned for November 2027.
