The Tacoma Pierce County Association of REALTORS® is urging members to vote “Yes” on Pierce Transit Proposition 1, a ballot measure that would fund investments in transit service and infrastructure.

The Proposition includes greater transit frequency, increased operating hours and extra routes, which TPCAR says will give locals more connectivity between their residences and jobs, schools, healthcare, recreation and shopping.

“For Realtors, transportation and housing are closely connected,” the association said in a press release. “As communities add housing and employment, the transportation network must be able to support that growth. Reliable transit can expand access to employment, improve mobility for households that cannot or choose not to rely exclusively on a car, and complement broader planning efforts intended to accommodate new housing and economic activity.”

Pierce County residents will have the opportunity to vote on Proposition 1 in the General Election on Nov. 3.
