Boulevard Park named one of the most affordable suburbs within a hot housing market

by Patrick Regan

Tiny Boulevard Park is one of the most affordable suburbs in the nation to buy a home compared to its large metropolitan neighbor, according to a new analysis from Point2Homes

The study examined the 20 large U.S. cities with the highest median home prices. Seattle was No. 8 on that list with a median home price of $769,500. The median price per square foot is $572.

Point2Homes then calculated which suburbs had the highest percentage difference between its median price per square foot and the price per square foot of its nearby major city.

Boulevard Park, with a population just over 5,000, has a median price per square foot of $222, a 61% difference compared to Seattle. That makes Boulevard Park the No. 8 most affordable suburb in the nation in a hot housing metropolitan area, according to the methodology of the study.

No. 1 was Medley, Florida, which has a 65% difference in its median price per square foot of $154, compared to $445 in Miami.

Other than Medley and Boulevard Park, the other suburbs on the top 20 most affordable list are all on the outskirts of New York City, Boston and Washington, D.C.
