Washington Realtors issues agent guidance on new mask mandate

by Liz Economou

Washington state reinstated its indoor mask requirement in public spaces today amid concerns over the spread of the delta variant of coronavirus. Now, Washington REALTORS has published a fact sheet for real estate professionals as the pandemic continues.

For brokers, clients and industry partners, including appraisers, inspectors and others, it means masking up — regardless of vaccination status — for listing appointments, showings, inspections, walk-throughs, open houses and other indoor interactions, the association noted in its new guidance.

While real estate firms may operate at 100% capacity, with the caveat that they comply with the mask requirement and all other recommended health guidelines, brokers and their clients are also required to abide by restrictions imposed by the seller of a property.

Notably, the Evergreen state is only one of six states across the country to reissue a mask mandate. Governor Jay Inslee’s recent announcement is available here. More information about vaccinations is available here.
