Ryan Shane, Owner/COO

Sammamish Mortgage

Ryan Shane’s journey into mortgage lending began earlier than most: He started helping at his family’s company when he was just in middle school, gaining hands-on experience with office tasks. The values instilled by his late father, Harley Shane, who founded Sammamish Mortgage in 1992, continue to be at the heart of the company’s culture and Shane’s philosophy. “As the second generation,” says Shane, “entrepreneurship is in my DNA. Every action we take is in honor of my father and reflects the family legacy.”

Along with his two brothers, Shane is now co-owner of the family business, a full-service direct boutique lender that stands out as one of the few family-owned and operated independent mortgage banks in the Pacific Northwest. With 90 percent of loans handled in-house from start to finish, they offer a comprehensive range of product types.

Born in California, Shane’s family relocated to Sammamish when he was a child, and he has since become deeply acquainted with the area and the markets he serves. His entry into the real estate business was a natural progression, and he is now a highly productive lender in his market, personally originating and closing more than 800 loans in 2019 alone.

Clients who have worked with Shane consistently commend his commitment to providing exceptional service. “I want to make my clients feel like they have agency in a process that can be overwhelming,” he says. He also strives to demystify the complexities of the lending process and make the experience less overwhelming.

Several years ago, Shane started developing the blueprint for his agent-referral division that launched in 2022. Buyers often find Sammamish before having agent representation, so he turned his focus to building an agent-referral network to support his unrepresented buyers, ensuring they are taken care of during their homebuying journey. This idea is unique, just like Sammamish. His forward-thinking approach and dedication to providing creative options to his clients set him and his team apart. Notes Shane, “It’s a necessity to be thinking ahead of the market in lending.”
