Storied Hawk’s Nest on Lake Union offered at $2.85 million

by Liz Economou

On picturesque Lake Union — just one dock away from where “Sleepless in Seattle” was filmed — an eye-popping floating home just listed for $2.85 million.

Endearingly known as Hawk’s Nest, for its spectacular views, the luxurious houseboat has a storied past of its own. It was originally designed and built off-site in Washougal, WA by Jim Boesel: a former editor of Fine Woodworking Magazine and craftsman extraordinaire, according to Seattle PI. (For trivia buffs, the small community of Washougal is set on the Washington side of the Columbia River in Clark County — and much closer to Portland than Seattle.)

Hawk’s Nest, with its wrap-around rooftop terrace and striking views of the Seattle skyline, has been featured on HGTV as well as in the New York Times, listing agent Danny Varona of Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty notes on the company website.

The floating abode also boasts custom-made cabinetry and accoutrements, a spacious open-format floor plan, three view decks — and the widest dock on the lake.
