Emily Anderson Senior Real Estate Agent

Every Door Real Estate

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
Prior to real estate I worked as a PR manager for a wine company. I got to travel and learn so much about wine! I was also a shoe model for a summer in college.

Where did you grow up?
Portland, Oregon

Growing up, what did you want to be?
I wanted to be a marine biologist.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I love taking group fitness classes like Pure Barre, having a sauna or going for a walk.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
There is an anthropologist named Wade Davis who has written a lot of fascinating books. He was an explorer-in-residence at the National Geographic Society. He’s absolutely a dream dinner party guest.

What is Seattle’s best-kept secret?
It’s hardly a secret but the Smith Tower is one of my all time favorite spots. So many people who have lived here their whole lives have never been! It’s such a special spot.

What do you love most about the industry?
I love to chat, and the real estate community is full of people who want to share and learn together. It’s so lovely interacting with other professionals who are passionate and driven to do the best by their clients.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I always lead with care. I love my clients and really take them under my wing when we start working together. I think my clients feel that and it helps us build a trusting relationship very quickly.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Not buying every home for myself! (kidding!)

I struggle with comparing myself to other agents. I see people doing well and I want to keep pushing. It’s not always a bad thing (it can be very motivating!) but sometimes it’s unrealistic.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Show up authentically and give it all you have. Don’t be a “secret agent” — ask for referrals!

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
I’m proud of myself for showing up every day and always keeping my goals in mind.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
Ever since the Eras tour came to Seattle, I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift on repeat.

What’s your favorite meal in Seattle?
Anything from Spinasse in Capitol Hill.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Seattle?
I absolutely love the Sam Hill house on Highland in Capitol Hill.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
I once (early on!) had a client tell me they wanted to buy a $4 million home with cash … that they had in physical money, in a “secure location.” They said they couldn’t tell me where it was but they could show me. I cut ties after that.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I have a LOT of hobbies. I started private pilot school, I take weekly stained glass classes, paddle board, make kombucha, build furniture. I love an activity!

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Anywhere in Spain or Italy! I love the sun, the food, the art. It’s so lovely.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Take every opportunity and put yourself out there!

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?
HomeSpotter

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
For food content I like @broccyourbody. For local seattle content I like @seattlerefined.
