Coldwell Banker Danforth to split from NAR

by Emily Marek

Coldwell Banker Danforth will not renew its affiliation with the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in 2024. The brokerage, which spans five offices in Federal Way, Northgate, Burien, Everett and Bellevue, made the announcement on Dec. 1.

“This decision underscores our brokerage’s unwavering commitment to agent autonomy and our belief in allowing brokers to make choices that best suit their needs and principles,” Dave Danforth, designated broker and owner of Coldwell Banker Danforth, said in a statement.

Danforth requested that his brokers be allowed to choose whether or not they want to remain NAR members; however, the local NAR chapter denied this request, stating NAR rules do not allow any deviation.

“It’s basically all in, or all out, and there’s no middle ground,” Danforth said.

Coldwell Banker Danforth is the first privately owned Coldwell Banker franchise to separate from NAR.
