Seattle is one of the most pet-friendly cities for renters, according to a new report from Zillow.
The real estate site analyzed the top 100 cities with the most rental listings to determine which city had the most pet-friendly options available. Seattle ranked at No. 9, with 73.1% of all listings allowing furry friends. Site-wide, only 55.1% of listings allow pets.
Zillow’s most recent Consumer Home Trends Report shows that 59% of all renters have a pet: a post-pandemic spike. In 2019, that figure was significantly lower at 46%. Zillow users are also twice as likely to filter for pet-friendly listings than any other filter on the site.
“As more people started working from home, pet ownership soared,” said Zillow Home Trends Expert Amanda Pendleton. “Pets are widely considered part of the American family, so it makes sense that they factor into moving decisions and impact housing preferences.”
