As a Vietnamese immigrant growing up in a rural Eastern Washington town, Khue Dang’s rise to the top of her industry today is symbolic of her personal mission statement: “Stay humble but hustle.” Dang credits her modest beginnings for instilling in her a respect for all walks of life and an ability to connect with those she meets. Her hustle was evident at a young age: She graduated from San Diego State University with a corporate finance degree and started her own travel company at 21 years old. That early entrepreneurial experience gave Dang a broad skill set. She later built on her success in accounting, credit management and sales within the seafood industry and, later, with an internet start-up.
Ironically, it was the bursting of the dot-com bubble in 2001 and the shutdown of the start-up that led Dang to her greatest success. She viewed the setback as an opportunity to reinvent herself and she became an escrow officer at a Seattle law firm to learn the legal side of real estate and mortgage financing. With her background, Dang chose to focus on the mortgage business and found her passion structuring lending solutions to meet her clients’ individual goals. “Every buyer is different, so understanding their needs as well as figuring out how to get their loan done in a timely manner often takes extra knowledge and skill,” she explains.
Today, Dang is a certified mortgage advisor, an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience and a leader among PNC Bank’s Greater Seattle Mortgage Team. She has been recognized repeatedly by multiple industry associations and colleagues, even being honored nationally as PNC’s Mortgage Loan Officer of the Year in 2021. She is dedicated to giving back; she serves on the Greater Seattle Vietnam Association board and provides scholarships to Vietnamese students via the Lighthouse Project.
