The Evergreen State came in at No. 7 for most fun states to visit. However, it’s also the most expensive state to unwind in. It has the highest rate for personal expenditures spent on recreation services, followed by Colorado and Massachusetts. But the landscape for fun in Washington is changing.

Koven, Ph.D., a professor in the department of urban and public affairs at the University of Louisville, contributed to the study, noting that the legalization of marijuana has already increased tourism. “Data shows that when commercial sales of marijuana began in Colorado and Washington hotel bookings grew and prices increased,” he said.
