A Seattle resident since 2010, Doug Sonnenberg always had an interest in big cities, high-rises, urban development and architecture. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he entered commercial real estate, working in office leasing and investment brokerage. Following seven years at Cushman & Wakefield in Salt Lake City, he made Bellevue home. “I was introduced to condominiums while selling out the Washington Square condo community in downtown Bellevue,” he recounts. “I have been selling new construction residential communities in Bellevue, Seattle and throughout California ever since.”

With 23 years in the industry, Sonnenberg is now a real estate broker with Compass. He specializes in new construction homes — primarily urban development and condominium high-rise sales — and is currently the sales director of the First Light Seattle condo community. From launching pre-sales for the community in 2019 to witnessing its completion early this year, he has sold, closed or signed over 75% of the community’s 459 homes. “It has been gratifying to play a major role from when First Light was just a vision all the way to completion and seeing people move into their new homes,” he explains. “It feels like raising a child and sending him off to college.”

As Sonnenberg explains, selling new construction condos is a niche segment of the real estate industry. “Working in this sector has allowed me to work with many brokers, experience thousands of tours and complete hundreds of transactions over a relatively short period of time,” he shares. “I have been fortunate to take part in a wide variety of purchasing and selling experiences.”

Currently living in a floating home on Lake Union, Sonnenberg enjoys everything Seattle has to offer, from the big-city culture to the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.
