After more than a decade in the art business, Caleb Johns made a career shift that played to his natural strengths with numbers, patterns and problem solving. The California native once owned his own gallery before the Great Recession prompted him to seek a new path, leading him to the Pacific Northwest and a role as an assistant to a top-producing branch manager. Learning the industry from the ground up gave Johns the foundation he needed to thrive, and today he serves as vice president of mortgage lending with Rate.
Specializing in conventional and jumbo loans across the greater Seattle area, Johns has built a reputation for successfully navigating even the most challenging transactions. Clients describe him as an excellent communicator and mortgage educator. Johns attributes his success to a detail-oriented approach that ensures nothing is overlooked. In more than 12 years, he has never failed to close a loan on time due to a lending oversight.
Johns has grown his business exclusively through referrals. He views each client interaction as the start of a long-term relationship. His informal yet instructive style creates a comfortable environment where clients know they will receive his personal attention — whether he is working from his office in Edmonds, a Costa Rican vacation spot or a campground in Yellowstone.
Johns enjoys remodeling and home improvement projects, gardening, hiking, camping and international travel — with 27 countries visited so far. He also values time with his wife, Lara, and their dog, Trout, and still dreams of returning to the waves as a surfer.
