Median rent dips in Seattle

by Emily Marek

Rents in Seattle fell during July, according to Apartment Advisor’s latest National Rent Report.

The rental analysis website looked at data from the 50 largest U.S. cities to compare month-over-month and year-over-year changes in rent prices.

From June to July, the median monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment fell 2.3% to $1,905 in Seattle. Year over year, prices have fallen 5.9%.

Prices have similarly fallen on three-bedroom units, with the median rent dropping 1.6% to $3,493 from June to July. However, the median three-bedroom price has grown 1.2% on a year-over-year basis.

Despite the dips, the Emerald City still remains one of the most expensive places to rent: it’s the eighth-most expensive city to find a one-bedroom and the ninth-most expensive to find a two- or three-bedroom unit.

The most expensive place to find a one-bedroom apartment remains New York City. The median rent for an apartment there is more than double that of units the same size in Seattle.
