Seattle has one of the best downtown living experiences in the country, according to a new report from StorageCafe.
The 2023 Downtown Living Hotspots report assesses the nation’s 30 largest cities and ranks them in a variety of categories, including cost of living, rental inventory, apartment amenities, safety, restaurants, cultural options and more.
Seattle was rated No. 5 overall and cited for its strong rent-to-income ratio, green apartment buildings and neighborhood safety.
“If you’re looking to go out and about, you might discover that Emerald City’s downtown boasts a busy and colorful atmosphere,” the report said. “There are roughly 8.8 restaurants and 1.6 theaters per 1,000 residents here. But there’s so much more that this place offers: The synergy between nature and city spills into daily life as people can easily bike, go hiking or sip lattes without leaving their downtown zip code(s).”
The top 10 cities for downtown living, according to StorageCafe:
- Dallas
- Austin, Texas
- Chicago
- Boston
- Seattle
- Nashville
- Houston
- Columbus, Ohio
- San Diego
- Phoenix
I’m guessing they didn’t survey people that actually live there.
