The Windermere Foundation has collected $50 million in all-time fundraising, reaching the ambitious goal the company set this year.
In early 2022, when donations stood at $46 million, Windermere Real Estate set out to reach $50 million in fundraising to coincide with the company’s 50th year in business. The $4 million raised in 2022 nearly doubles what the Windermere Foundation collects in a typical year.
“The company accepted the challenge with zeal,” Windermere Foundation Executive Director Christine Wood said in a news release.
The first Windermere Foundation Gala was held in September, attended by 600 guests and highlighted by an auction that included a signed guitar from Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, who was in attendance. The event helped raise $1.6 million in total.
Since 1989, a portion of every Windermere agent’s commission has been donated to the foundation, which provides support and funding to local low-income and homeless families, including shelter, clothing and children’s programs.
“Fifty million dollars is more than a number,” Wood said. “It is a landmark achievement in celebrating the Windermere Foundation’s past, present and future. It represents our coming together to make a difference for our neighbors and embodies Windermere’s core value of collective generosity. Thank you to everyone who helped us get here.”
