Navigating the dating pool can feel like a series of dead ends, but finding the right setting to search for “the one” might make all the difference — and single people may not need to look any further than Seattle, which was recently ranked as the fourth-best city for singles by WalletHub.
The finance company used data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics and other sources to rank U.S. cities based on metrics like share of the population that is single and the average price for a two-person meal. Seattle placed No. 4, trailing behind Atlanta (No. 1), Las Vegas (No. 2) and Tampa, Florida (No. 3), but beating out popular cities like Denver (No. 5) and Austin (No. 6).
Ample dating opportunities helped drive Seattle’s high ranking. There’s a surplus of singles in the area, and they have the broadband connection to participate in online or mobile dating.
“The already difficult process of finding the perfect partner can be made even tougher when cities lack the conditions necessary to make dating successful,” said WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo. “The best cities for singles have large, gender-balanced single populations, along with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor, daytime and nighttime activities. They also have reasonable prices for dating activities or high average incomes to help ease the sting of inflation.”
