Windermere Real Estate is partnering with Seattle-based home sharing company Esterre to offer an attainable second home ownership model for Washingtonians.

With Esterre’s shared ownership model, owners have access to all homes in the company’s network during the duration of their ownership term. Homes in the company’s portfolio will be sold after 12 years of ownership, at which point owners receive a proportional share of the proceeds.

Esterre’s portfolio currently consists of five homes within a two- to three-hour driving distance from Seattle, located in Snoqualmie Summit, San Juan Island, Whidbey Island, Fidalgo Island and the Olympic Peninsula. All homes sleep six to 12 people and feature new furnishings, fully stocked kitchens and wellness-inspired amenities.

Maintenance, cleaning, supplies and finances will all be handled by the Esterre management team.

“Esterre is a new concept tailored to today’s consumer, and it represents the culmination of nearly four decades of experience and lessons learned in the shared ownership business,” CEO and Founder Michael Burns said in a press release. “In partnership with the owners of Windermere Real Estate, we are committed to delivering exceptional value and creating new opportunities for our owners to enjoy a diverse collection of curated homes with their family and friends.”

“We’re excited to be partners in this innovative new concept,” said Geoff Wood, CEO of Windermere Real Estate. “When we were first introduced to Esterre, we immediately saw it as an ideal opportunity for our agents to offer their clients a new, compelling option to own a second home.”

Ownership is currently limited to 40 stakes at a price of $365,000 per stake. Each stake entitles owners to 32 nights annually for a 12-year period.

For every eight stakes sold, Esterre plans to add another home to its portfolio. As new homes are added, existing owners will gain access to those homes as well.
